Abstract
This report is the result of a theoretical study of three sites which are located in the region adjacent to the mouth of the Michipicoten River in Northern Ontario. Two of the sites are early Initial Woodland, Laurel Culture occupations, while the third is a Terminal Woodland Algonkian Site. In addition to the individual site reports, three chapters are devoted to specific aspects of the occupation: adaptation to the environment, the impact of pottery and the pattern of subsistence. The underlying theme is cultural conservatism.
