dc.description.abstract | This thesis aims to examine Western culture and its relationship to virtual worlds. The goal is to provide readers with a better understanding of the relationships between individuals and virtual reality, as well as how these relationships may influence our society. This understanding is explored in three chapters; the first examines several psychology articles on video games and virtual worlds and how they impact individuals; the second explores the social impacts of a rise in virtual reality as a primary actor in many individuals lives; the third chapter focuses on the individual and how the introduction of virtual worlds has changed the ways individuals interact. | en_CA |
